American Flag Cake

Happy 4th of July everyone! I normally don't post on Sunday but thought today was a special occasion since it is Indepedence Day! This cake is so easy but also a wonderful addition to any 4th of July celebration :)

Ingredients
9x13 cake of your choice
vanilla frosting or tub of cool whip
40-50 blueberries
1/2 pint strawberries, chilled or frozen

I recommend using frozen berries because they will layer easily.

Bake cake according to directions and frost when partially cooled. Chill iced cake in the fridge for about 30 minutes. In the top corner of the pan make your 'stars' out of your blueberries. If you have small ones it will be easy to put 50 on there.

Slice strawberries in half and cut off tops. Start at the very bottom of the cake and make one 'stripe' of strawberries (you could also use raspberries as Ina did here). Make sure to leave a white stripe under the blueberries and make another stripe of strawberries below that. One stripe will go at the top of the cake pan and another will be equal to the bottom line of the blueberries.

Serve, slice and enjoy!
