Basic Vanilla Dough - Day 6

I found this recipe in the December Martha Stewart Living and thought it might be a good sugar cookie dough candidate - boy was I right! The best part though is that you can do so  many great things with this starter dough. I've used it as sugar cookie dough, a base for cranberry walnut crescents and then thumbprints (recipes to come). I've never worked with an easier dough - you are going to be thankful for this one! Get creative and change out the extract from vanilla to almond or lemon. I divided the one dough into three sections and made three different types of cookies from it!

Basic Vanilla Dough - Great Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
3 cups flour
3/4 tsp baking powder (omit if making thumbprints or ball cookies)
1/2 tsp salt
2 sticks butter
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1 egg

Whisk together flour, powder and salt in a large bowl, set aside. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy, add in egg and extract. Gradually add in flour mixture until a soft dough forms.
*For cut out cookies bake for 7-9 minutes on 350
