I told the boys they could each pick an appetizer that they wanted for tonight and both said sausage balls at the same time - lol. Even funnier is that I've actually never made these. I used the classic bisquik recipe.
Sausage Balls2 cups baking mix (I used heart smart bisquick)
8 oz shredded cheddar cheese ( I used 2%)
1 lb sausage (your preference - regular, hot or maple)
Measure out your baking mix. Combine the mix and cheddar cheese. If you are grating your own make sure to toss a little baking mix in with it before you add it to the 2 cups of baking mix or you'll have a big glob of cheese in the middle. If you are using bagged, pre-shredded you can add it right in. Add RAW sausage to cheese mixture andmake your brother who is visiting do this for you so your hands don't get dirty work with your hands until everything is mixed evenly. You should end up with one giant "sausage ball".Roll into small balls and place on a baking pan. Bake for 20 minutes. Cool and enjoy.
