Cola Braised Steak Tips

This is a spin off of a recipe that calls for a pretty large roast. I've made it several times and even though it is semi labor intensive, it is really, really good. Last week I decided to experiment with some steak tips I got on sale and let me tell you, this is so much easier to make and tastes just as good! If you are looking for a new Sunday Roast recipe then try this original recipe out, but if not - try this :) Oh and some things just don't photograph well...this is one of them.

Ingredients
1-2 lbs sirloin tips
8 oz cola
2 cloves garlic
2 large sprigs fresh rosemary
2 tablespoons tomato paste
salt and pepper

Saute steak tips in 1 tsp olive oil for about 3-4 minutes on high heat. Add garlic, saute about 1 minute longer. Add cola and deglaze pan (stir around and remove browned bits)
Add tomato paste, rosemary sprigs and salt and pepper, stir.
Bake in the oven, covered for 45 minutes to an hour. Serve with mashed potatoes (the steak tips will make a fabulous sauce/gravy) and a steamed veggie. Enjoy.

what a great use for cola...the acid and sweetness must go great with tenderizing and flavoring the beef!

Thanks for linking up to What's Cooking Wednesday! Hope to see you again next week!
