As most of you know, I don't have a Kroger in my town anymore. If I want to get in on any Kroger deals, I have to either drive 2 hours south to Russellville, Ar or 1 hour north to Joplin, MO where they have a Dillon's. Most of the deals at Dillon's are about the same as Kroger Delta but not always. A few weeks ago, Kroger Delta shoppers got Fall Squash for only $0.68/lb - I was so sad I could not get in on that great deal! I have several recipes that I have been wanting to try and that was a good price. Dillon's sale price was $1/lb so a pretty big difference when it starts adding up. Oh well, no big deal, maybe next time. Well, this past Saturday I noticed Joplin had a Food 4 Less. We decided to run in and found all of their Fall Squash on a one day sale for only $0.58/lb! I was beyond excited and bought about 15 lbs worth of squash! At the time, that really didn't mean anything other than happiness from finding a good sale. Today, I saw it differently.
Earlier today, I noticed my visits were climbing drastically. I thought, either the girls at Jackson Energy are really sharing the Kroger Ad with their friends or something has to be up. Sure enough, Crystal over at Money Saving Mom shared the post I did on freezing Butternut Squash. I was beyond thrilled - what a blessing that she would put one of my posts on her front page! I know, what's the big deal? Well, Crystal has hundreds of thousands of readers so to make it on her page is a pretty big deal! After my initial happiness, I got really quiet, then very humbled, then overwhelmed with God's love.
You see, the Bible tells us that:
"Every generous act of giving and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father who made the heavenly lights, in whom there is no inconsistency or shifting shadow." James 1:17
It may not seem like much to you, but this little post about Squash brought readers to my blog that otherwise would have never known I existed. And why? Just because God loves me and wanted me to know that He was thinking of me. Just like the Fall Squash being on sale. He knew that would brighten my day, so He blessed me. Just because that is who God is. In this crazy world where bad things happen every day, He wants to say to each of us, "Hey! I do love you and I have not forgotten about you!" My friend Julie shared a story about a pair of pajama's she wanted for her little boy but were out of their budget and then one day they were on a low enough sale that she could get them! Why? Because God loves Julie. God loves you too, you know. That item you really needed and found on markdown at Kroger? That person that paid for your coffee? That beautiful sunset? Those encouraging words you desparately needed to hear? God. That scripture says EVERY good gift is from above. That really does mean everything.
I know how easily this feeling of love and gratitude can change without a moment's notice, tomorrow my whole world could come crashing down on me. That's life and trust me, I have bad days - lots of them. These whispers of love keep me going and help keep my head up in this crazy life.
I don't know about you, but I'm thankful that my God loves me enough to care about the minute details of my life. All the way down to squash.

I feel you on the sales. I truly believe that God provided us with the home that we are moving into. We actually looked at the home a couple months back but knowing the size of it and all it entails we turned away from it. Apparently God had other plans. It has everything that we wanted and needed and within our budget. I truly feel at home there. :)
